A nursery sells plants, not produce, and that single difference changes what needs recording. The unit is a propagation batch, not a hectare of standing crop. Success is measured in germination and strike rate, in how many of a batch reached saleable size, and in whether a customer's block failed six months later because of something that happened on your bench.
Nurseries also carry disproportionate responsibility. FuroField therefore treats the propagation batch as its own managed entity: source seed lot and mother stock, parent batch genealogy, seed testing, germination and grading events, quantity movements, reservations, dispatch, evidence and margin all stay on one batch spine. Transplanting into a field cycle consumes that nursery stock rather than creating a second unlinked story.

Select species, cultivar, method, source seed lot or mother stock, supplier lot and parent batch. The module refuses impossible genealogy such as a cycle or a missing parent.
Move quantity through controlled stages
Sown, germinated, graded, transplanted, lost, adjusted, reserved and dispatched quantities are append-only movements. The balance is derived, so an edit cannot quietly manufacture saleable plants.
Test, grade and evidence the batch
Seed-lot tests, germination events, stage gates, evidence items and public provenance certificates accumulate on the same record, with warnings where traceability is incomplete.
Reserve, dispatch or transplant without breaking lineage
Customer reservations allocate available plants; dispatch fulfils them; transplanting links the nursery batch to the destination crop cycle and consumes stock through the same movement ledger.

Append-only quantity ledger
Every gain, loss, reservation, dispatch and transplant is a movement. Current stock, available stock and sell-through are derived from those movements.

Can I trace a delivered batch back to its seed lot or mother block?
Yes in the dedicated workspace module. A batch can reference its seed lot, supplier lot, mother stock and parent batch; reservations and dispatch preserve the customer link; transplanting preserves the destination crop-cycle link. The module flags missing evidence instead of filling gaps with assumptions.
We supply an outgrower scheme with seedlings. Does that connect?
It does, if the scheme also runs on FuroField. Seedlings supplied to registered growers can be issued as an input advance against the grower and recovered automatically from harvest deliveries, which is how most schemes want the seedling cost handled.
Do you track germination and strike rate?
Yes. Germination is recorded as a dated batch event against the sown quantity; grading and loss movements then explain how many plants became saleable. The dashboard derives germination, yield, loss and sell-through from that event history.
